Charles and Lucy Hart

Charles Dwight Hart was born in Shelburne, Massachusetts, on January 12, 1831. Charles was the eldest child born to Holloway Hart and Mary Carter Hart. Charles Dwight Hart married Lucy Reed Jenkins on May 1, 1853 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Lucy Jenkins was born on July 4, 1835 in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Lucy was the daughter of David Hersey Jenkins and the former Hannah Lilly. Lucy died on February 12, 1867 -- the same day she gave birth to her fourth child, Henry Shaw Hart.
After Lucy's passing, Charles Dwight Hart married Katherine Stow Wright on July 11, 1867 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Katherine was the daughter of William S. Wright and the former Maria Fanny Hopkins. Charles Dwight Hart and Katherine had five children. Mr. Hart moved to Franklin Grove, Illinois and, later, Bradford, Illinois. He was a farmer and died of pneumonia on April 14, 1897. His widow, Katherine, was still living in Bradford, Illinois in the family home in 1900. |
