|Newton Beverly Hartt was born Oct. 27, 1900, to Frank and Minnie Hartt in Lowell, MA,. Newton joined the army in 1939 and was sent to England and also served in Italy. While stationed in England, he met and married a widow, Florence Waller, Oct. 4, 1940, who had 3 small children— Ann, Jill and Dick. Before returning to Canada in 1945, Newton and Florence had added two more girls to their family, Margaret and Frances. Newton, Florence and family lived on Stanley Hartt’s farm before purchasing their own farm at Tees.
During their stay at the Lone Butte area, Beatrice was born. Later at Tees the last member of the family arrived, their son, Kenneth. Newton had a wonderful singing voice and many of his children inherited this gift and the endearing faith of their parents.
Beatrice Still adds that Newton was her favourite uncle, a real charmer. As a young man he worked on the farm near Hanna with his brothers. He also worked in the coal miles in Drumheller, AB.
Newton died Nov. 18, 1965, in Lacombe, AB. He is buried in Tees Cemetery
