COUNTY PIONEER DIED LAST NIGHT
Cornella Hart Eckler 1836-1920
The death of Mrs. Cornella Hart Eckler, 83, took place last night at her home, 701 East Avenue Elyria, Ohio, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Eckler was one of the county’s pioneers. She was born in Carlisle, Sept. 21, 1836, living in Carlisle, Oberlin and Elyria all her life. She married to John Eckler in 1862, whose death took place 27 years ago. Six children were born, four of who are now living. They are Mrs. Bertha M. Hinkson, Mrs. Katherine M. Champney, Frank and Charles R. Eckler all of Elyria. George died in infancy and Henry, nine years ago. For the past twenty years her home has been in this city.
Mrs. Eckler was of a pleasing personality, with a strong character, having many friends who admired her for her womanly qualities. She lived an unselfish life, and will be missed by many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the home, 701 East Ave. Burial in Carlisle cemetery.
