|Elizabeth was a daughter of Thomas & Phebe Hartt.
She married David H. Smith (1828-1917) the gristmill
proprietor. They lived in Millbrow House on the
riverbank overlooking the site of the milldam and
pond. It is one of the oldest dwellings in the
community. The house was built by Thomas Hartt,
Elizabeth’s father. After Elizabeth’s death a
granddaughter, Helen Nason, kept house for her
grandfather until her marriage to Thomas B. Hartt. Her
brother Pennel, and his wife Hattie (Webb) Nason then
moved in with the grandfather, remaining until after
the death of the latter.
