|OBITUARY OF RICHARD HART 1909-2007
Richard Hart, late of Sycamore IL, born Ashton IL on December 19, 1909, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2007 in Keystone Heights, FL. He was 97 years old. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Belle (Orner) Hart, his parents, Frank and Emma (Wagner) Hart, and his brothers Raymond and F. Stanley Hart.
Richard had a genuine warmth, and enduring humor. Richard was an alumnus of Ashton High School, where he lettered in basketball. He attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He enjoyed good health and mental clarity through all of his days. He was a long time farmer, real estate Broker and farm manager, conducting business with his brothers in DeKalb, IL as “Frank S. Hart Sons”.
He was a gifted musician and played the piano for over 90 years. He was fond of recounting his playing for silent movies in Ashton’s movie theater as a youth. He also played in various dance bands as a young man, often traveling to music jobs with his brother Raymond (who played the trombone) in a “Model T” Ford.
He is survived by his son, Stephen Hart (LaDonna), of Keystone Heights, FL, and daughter, Mary Diane Hart, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews and friends who will dearly miss him.
A deeply gentle and loving soul, Richard was a true gift to us all.
Compassionate generous, and honorable he connected the generations of our family to our ancestors. He was descended from Isaac (Elizabeth) Hart, who emigrated from England to what is now the Boston MA area in 1636, and Charles Dwight Hart and Katherine (Wright) Hart, who homesteaded and farmed in Lee County IL in the 1860’s. The family farm is now owned and operated by his nephew James Hart, and remains in the family.
Thou we suffer a very great loss in his death; we are comforted to know that he is returned to a place of eternal bliss, in the care of our Creator.
There will be a family graveside memorial service in Ashton IL on June 2. Burial will be in the Ashton cemetery, Contributed by his son Steve Hart
