|Dennis Burge, 79, of Canon City, formerly of Fort Lupton, died October 13, 1985 at the Thomas Moore Hospital in Canon City. He was born in Fort Lupton September 22, 1906, to parents William J. Burge and Julina (Winbourn) Burge. He grew up and attended school in Fort Lupton and farmed in the Fort Lupton area until the 1960's when he moved to Arvada and later Phoenix, Arizona. In 1975 he moved to Grand Junction, then to Houston, Texas in 1980. In 1983 he moved to IOOF home in Canon City.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Lupton, as well as the IOOF Lodge 100, Junior IOOF Sabre Tooth 4, and Bluebird Rebekah Lodge 28 in Fort Lupton. He was Past Noble Grand of Lodge 100 and also Past Grand Master of the state lodge. He was a member of Columbus Encampment 18, Canton Longmont 3, Longmont Rocky Mountain Lodge 2, Central City.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jordan (Beverly) Moon of Seymour, Conn., Mrs. Richard (Julyna) Landa of Petaluma, Calif. and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers, one sister and three infant brothers and sister.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18 at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Lupton, at 10 a.m. with Rev Paul Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Fort Lupton, with IOOF in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the IOOF Memorial Fund.
