Caroline was a daughter of Thomas and Phebe Hartt. She married James Slipp (1829-1858) in 1856 at the brideís home. Caroline inherited the gristmill at her fatherís death in 1853. With the mill came the privilege of a dam together with a house and three quarters of an acre of land on the north side of the stream. Caroline and James Slippís sons inherited the sawmill as tenants in common. She died Dec. 2, 1856. Both are buried in the Gladstone Cemetery. (Taken from Days of Old)

Death Announcement 1829- Dec 2, 1856 Courtesy of Sunbury Happenings † At Blissville, on the morning of the 3rd inst., Mrs. Caroline J Slipp, the beloved wife of Mr. James L. Slipp of that place, and the youngest daughter of the Pioneer Thomas & Phebe Hartt of Blissville, Mrs. Slipp left a bright evidence of her acceptance with God.† As well as many relations and friends to mourn her early death.
