Eliza was born in Lockwood, Yorkshire, England. Eliza was a flower girl at the Coronation of Queen Victoria. She married Joseph Burton in 1846 in England and he died as the result of a broken blood vessel. She left England in the spring of 1856 with two children and journeyed 6000 miles to the Utah Territory. Eliza married Nathan Staker on February 18, 1857. (The couple were 23 years apart in age.) They both were Latter-Day-Saints. Eliza died at 90 years of age, leaving two sons, four daughters, 45 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren.
