Charles probably born in Wenham, Mass., son of John and Dorcas (Brown)Hart; married at Salem, Dec. 5, 1815, Miss Frances Wellington of Salem, born in Salem, Dec.14, 1790, daughter of Thaddeus and Ruhamah (Brown) Wellington of Waltham, who were married Sept. 20, 1780. Captain Hart, master of the brig New Priscilla" of Salem, was in the early part of 1829 taken by pirates and he and the whole crew were murdered. The vessel was found floating at sea near Bahama Banks, robber and plundered of everything valuable. The chests were on deck, papers scattered about, and not a man of the crew was ever heard from. Many vessels that year were taken by pirates. The above was furnished by his son, Charles Hart Jr., Esq., of Providence, R.I. Mrs. Hart married second, in 1833 Rev. Benjamin C.
