Addie Lorraine Hartt was born to to Henry and Addie (Way) Hartt, on July 21, 1902 in Sheridan, Montana. In 1904, when Addie was two years old, the family moved to High River, North West Territories. In 1910, the family moved to a farm in Hanna, Alberta. Lorraine had a lovely singing voice and sang at many local weddings. Lorraine married Herbert Spencer Burns in 1922. They lived on a farm near Watts, Alberta until 1945. They moved to Nightingale, Alberta in 1952 where Spencer (as he was known) was an agent for the Alberta Pacific Grain Company. A year-and-a-half later, the family moved to Vulcan where Spencer was employed as a Field Inspector. Spencer died January 5, 1960 and Lorraine died May 23, 1978. Both are buried in the Union Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta. They had three children: William, Robert, and Marianne.
