Paul Alan Hartt was born to William Charles & Letitia Ann (Wilson) Hartt, December 7,1892 in White Birch, Wisconsin, (later renamed Solon Springs) Paul served in the Army in WW I overseas. Paul had a brother Frank that remained unmarried so the two shared a home in South Tacoma where they did some farming, felling trees and selling firewood. Both were active in their church and did much work with the Youth of the community. They called their small rural house on 20 acres on outskirts of Manitou, near South Tacoma "The Jungelow." the place had no modern conveniences. Paul died in a Veteran's Hospital in Seattle, at age 71, of Hodgkin's disease. He died with his finger pointing at his favorite scripture verse in the Bible
