Silvia Grace Johnson, born in Lynn, Mass., Jan. 1,1890, came to Tacoma, WA, with her mother at about five years of age. Silvia went to work caring for an ill lady, a Mrs.Harvey, at an early age. She cooked and cleaned for them and they gave her room and board. On June 20,1907, Silvia married James Ismay in Yelm, WA. They were divorced Nov. 6, 1913. Silvia married John Edward Kittelman in Tacoma, WA on July 23, 1914. They had six children, losing one at birth. John, known as Jack, was a mechanic and plied his trade in the Tacoma area, then went to work for the Weyerhaeuser Company where he remained until he retired. Silvia was a homemaker in the fullest sense of the word, and a worker in the school’s PTA (Parent Teacher Association). She contributed as well to the Ladies Aid Group of their Church. During WW II, Silvia joined the Ladies Motor Corp., a local Organization helping the military effort.
