Dudley Van Gordon TICE was born September 1887, Barryton, Mecosta, Michigan. He married Iva Bertha (Chaffee) 24 May 1908, Pogy Lake, Osceola, Michigan, USA . She was born 1919 and died 2007. Both are buried in Flake Cemetery, Barry, Mecosta Co. Michigan. Dudley Van Gordon TICE was a good farmer and manager. For several years the family lived in Grand Rapids and Muskegon. Later they worked the Shanks farm south of Barryton. A number of years ago they purchased the former Wyckof farm where he erected large barns and conducted a prosperous horse business, in addition to raising great quantities of string beans and other crops. Dudley served a s deputy sheriff for many years, resigning on account of poor health. He was well and favorably known to everyone in this part of Michigan, as well as quite a distance away. Dudley Tice, 60 died at his home at the west edge of Barryton, following a stroke suffered three weeks before. Following the stroke, pneumonia developed, causing his death. He suffered poor health for several months although during the past few weeks his condition appeared to be improving. During his last illness a trained nurse was in attendance. Brother Odd Fellows assisted in his care at night.
