John Frederick was a son of Frederick Henry and Hallie Miriam (Schofield) Hart born on November 28, 1899. John only attended school through the 4th grade, however he was able to figure complicated math equations of all kinds, chart the stars for sailing and discuss most subjects intelligently. He was an avid reader, but mostly liked to work with his hands and with anything mechanical. He married Louise Hogue in 1920. John opened their own garage in Oakland, California. John learned to fly the bi-winged open cockpit airplane and was offered a teaching position with the Navy, but turned it down. After WWII they left Oakland and started a chicken ranch in the Napa Valley. John died in 1979. John and Louise had one daughter: Elizabeth Miriam Hart.
