Florence Edith Hartt was born April 11, 1872 in Jacksontown, N.B. to Rev. Henry & Phebe (Smith) Hartt. Florence was a school teacher both in New Brunswick and British Columbia before she set sail for India as a single missionary in 1900. . She left for India under the American Board of Commissionaires for Foreign Missions. She met and married William Hazen Dec 20, 1905 in Ahmednagar, India, in an outdoor ceremony She was the principal of a school in India for a while They had no children. They spent over 42 yrs in India coming home on furlough every 7 years. They retired at Walker Missionary Home in Auburndale Massachusetts. William died on July 7, 1949 and Flora died Nov 3, 1957 in a rest home at Lancaster, MA. They both were cremated.
