Dennis Burge, 79, of Canon City, formerly of Fort Lupton, Colorado died October 13, 1985 at the Thomas Moore Hospital in Canon City. He was born in Fort Lupton on September 22, 1906, to William J. Burge and Julina (Winbourn) Burge. He was their 13th child. He grew up and attended school in Fort Lupton and farmed in the that area until the 1960's when he moved to Arvada and later Phoenix, Arizona. He married Maud W. Thorley on October 27, 1930. They later divorced in the early 1950's. In 1975 he moved to Grand Junction, then to Houston, Texas in 1980. In 1983 he moved to IOOF home in Canon City. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Lupton, as well as the IOOF Lodge 100, Junior IOOF Sabre Tooth 4, and Bluebird Rebekah Lodge 28 in Fort Lupton. He was Past Noble Grand of Lodge 100 and also Past Grand Master of the state lodge. He was a member of Columbus Encampment 18, Canton Longmont 3, Longmont Rocky Mountain Lodge 2, Central City. He was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Fort Lupton, Colorado. Maude and Dennis had two daughters, Beverly & Julyna.
