Captain Ebenezer Hart was born Nov 15, 1762 in Lynnfield, MA. He married Polly Smith, October 25, 1792, his 2nd cousin. She was a daughter of Amos and Abigail (Hart) Smith of Danvers. Ebenezer resided in Lynnfield and enlisted in the War of Revolution, Feb 15, 1777, Capt. Winship Company, Fifth Massachusetts Regiment for three years. He was promoted to Sergeant and later Captain of Militia; he was a member of the State legislature from 1806-1807 from what was then the North Precinct of Lynn, MA He died March 26, 1840 and was buried in the Old Burying Grounds, Lynn, Essex, MA.
