Gilbert Curry Dykeman was a son of Moses Dykeman and Eunice Currey born May 28, 1821 in Queen's County, New Brunswick. He became a minister or a Deacon of the Baptist Church. He was a farmer of German descent. On July 11, 1847, he married Francis Ruth Hartt, daughter of Aaron and Charlotte Hartt, Gilbert & Francis Dykeman had the following children: Phoebe Ann, 1848; Charles, 1850-1916; Tillitson, 1852-1927; Alonzo (a minister), 1854-1921; Clarence (a sea captain), 1859-1896; Merinda, 1861-1879; Milbur, about 1862- ?; and Aaron, 1863-?. Gilbert died June 12, 1884; he is buried in the Dykeman Family cemetery, Jemseg, Queen's County, New Brunswick.
