Martin Hart and Lucy

 

 

Martin Hart was born in Lynnfield, Massachusetts on March 31, 1794.  He was the second child and the oldest son of Ebenezer Hart and Polly Smith Hart.

 

Martin Hart married Lucy Hart about 1820.  Lucy was born on August 21, 1801.  Lucy Hart was his cousin and the daughter of Daniel Hart (and granddaughter of John Hart Jr.).  Martin and Lucy had two children: Martin Hart Jr. and Rufus Hart.  Lucy died about 1828.

 

On November 29, 1830, Martin remarried; this time to Mrs. Elizabeth Upton (nee Elizabeth Swinerton) of Danvers, Mass.  Elizabeth was born on August 27, 1793.  She was the daughter of a Mr. Swinerton.

 

Martin Hart lived in Danvers, Mass. (now Peabody) where he was a farmer.  Martin died on Sept. 25, 1875.  Elizabeth died on March 12, 1867.  They are both buried in the West Burying Ground, Lynnfield, Massachusetts.

Notes:

Rufus Hart was married by Rev. Charles F. Holbrook at Danvers, Mass., on February 14, 1866, Mrs. Emma Ross (Speed) Wadleigh, daughter of William and Mary Ann Speed of Newmarket, N.H.  She died on February 28, 1871.  Rufus remarried in a ceremony conducted by Rev. E.M. Boners, at Clinton, Mass., on December 25, 1872.  The new bride was Sarah Bracket Thorn.  Sarah was born on July 4, 1837, in Boston, Mass.  She was the daughter of James Bracket and Lydia (Cummings) Thorn. Sarah died on June 18, 1890.  Rufus married for a third time on February 15, 1892, to Mrs. Almeda Augusta (Maston) Rowe.  Almeda was born in Pittsfield, N.H. on May 1, 1852.  Almeda was the daughter of James and Margaret (Small) Maston.  Mr. Hart lived in Danvers, Mass., and he was a carpenter by trade. He enlisted in the Civil war on July 26, 1861, Company C, Sixteenth regiment, Massachusetts volunteers, and he was discharged Sept. 18, 1863.  Rufus Hart and Sarah Bracket Thorn Hart had one child: Emma Florence Hart was born on April 21, 1874 in Danvers, Mass.
